Achievements

During Its work, the PROSCOPE consortium has achieved a range of important advances towards the ultimate goal of achieving a single probe platform which can deliver rapid diagnosis and therefore treatment of colorectal cancer.

Achievements in Photonics

  • Compact, ultrafast laser with dispersion pre-compensation enabling multi-photon endomicroscopy
  • High-NA chromatic and field corrected endomicroscopic imaging objectives with enhanced curvature

Achievements in Microendoscopy

  • Demonstration of flexible probes combining optical coherence tomography and Raman spectroscopy imaging capabilities, approved for clinical use
  • Demonstration of first two-photon Airy lightsheet microendoscope, with distal end camera
  • A new method for 3D nano-printing of freeform micro-optics with exceptional surface quality

Achievements in Endoscopes

  • Development of an encapsulation concept to protect the probes during endoscopic procedures in the GI tract and subsequent cleaning, disinfection and sterilization

Achievements in Diagnostics & Therapeutics

  • Development and certification of ArgoCap® for thermal ablation of tissue. 
  • Development of the AWCduo® which provides an additional working channel to endoscopes
  • Development of a transanal port system (EndoTEM) for bimanual treatment of lesions in the colon/rectum combining flexible endoscopy and laparoscopic instruments

Achievements in Diagnostics & Therapeutics

  • Implementation of an overarching software to control single modalities 
  • Implementation of safety queries to avoid simultaneous laser activation
  • Complete documentation of software according to IEC 62304
